Herbs for the Eyes and Whys

We have recently had several questions regarding the best herbs for the eyes. So what would I recommend for overall eye health? Good nutrition and a liver cleanse.

First seek to support the eyes by ensuring adequate levels of beta-carotene are in your diet. Carrots are high in beta-carotene, but they are not the only source. Almost every herb and spice in your kitchen contains decent levels of beta-carotene. Turnip greens, kale and sweet potatoes also contain great levels of beta-carotene. I have always believed starting with good foods and nutrition are the best places to start with any health issue.

Most do not realize it but the liver is connected to the eyes and skin, as well as almost every organ in your body. In the case of the eyes, many of the bio-chemicals which support your eyes are either stored or activated in the liver, such as Glutathione or vitamin B’s.

Supporting your liver can help the eyes as well as strengthen your whole body and immune system. We have a great herbal blend for supporting and cleansing the Liver, Kidneys and Lymphatic system called Gentle Cleanse. A combination of herbs that increase circulation, reduce inflammation and support the Liver in cleansing the blood. It also supports Kidney function. Both the Liver and the Kidneys are a major part of the cleansing and elimination of toxins from the body. Gentle Cleanse also flushes out the Lymphatic system, and combined with a mild diuretic action, helps assist in eliminating toxins from the body. In the long run a great liver cleanse and support is one of the best measures you can take to support your eyes!

Quality Tea is IN the bag!

Far too often a product ends up in a package that actually costs more than the manufacturing of the product itself. While packaging that is fetchingly snazzy or has multiple functions may be cool, it is seldom worth the additional cost. That’s why at Discover Teas, the quality is in the bag, not on it.

We spent many cumulative hours tasting tea samples from a wide variety of sources, carefully selecting the teas we feel confident to represent. Here at Discover Teas we want to provide great quality teas that are fresh and sustainably sourced. We choose to work only with companies that have a fair trade awareness, and even if not certified, as organically grown as possible. We went out of our way to bring in only hand-picked teas because they have the best balance of oils and water in their leaves.  We found teas that are only flavored with real fruits, oils or herbs--nothing synthetic or artificial. It would hardly make sense for us to not factor into account those same ideals when selecting packaging to use for our product.

In today’s marketplace flooded with eye-catching, excessive packaging that just ends up in a landfill, we chose to take a different path. Our goal was providing a package that keeps the tea leaves fresh and maintains the high quality oil content. We put our focus into our tea rather than a fancy box. The end result is a phenomenal line of teas that are bagged per order in simple humidity-controlled, food grade, BPA-free, zip-lock craft bags. Functional and affordable. It may look plain, but one taste of the incredible tea within and you will know that the quality is in the bag not on it.
